Blackout

Moved to Charlotte from Philly this past May. Ordered the package and low and behold...Atlanta 4 hour drive - black out, Washington 6 hour drive - black out, baltimore 7 hour drive - black out and Cincinnati - 7 hours drive - black out. What a joke. Atleast 2 of the local sports stations are carried but the cable company should be forced to carry the local sports channels of any team that is blacked out. Will not renew again that is for sure. - a guest

Blue Jays games are also blacked out throughout the entirety of Canada. 30 million people across a country larger than the entire US. Now that's craziness. - Buck Bokai

Braves Games Blacked Out

I live in NorthWest Florida very near Pensacola. In Santa Rosa County we have only 1 cable company. Mediacom. I cannot get Braves Baseball Games. I also can't get the Marlins. I subscribe to MLB and I have discovered that my Mediacom Highspeed Internet get's it's IP from DHCP Servers in Atlanta. Even though my ZIPCODE is 32566 because of the location of my DHCP servers they change my ZIPCODE to 30301 which make's inelligible to watch Atlanta but I am able to watch The Marlins and the Rays. They have outsmarted themselves. Isn't that funny. I own a house in South Georgia and I can still se the Braves from there. - Jimmy Ray Clemons

Lived in Iowa...had MLB TV...cancelled MLB TV. On any given night, you can't watch almost half the league. There's the 6 teams you're blacked out of---and the 6 other teams playing them. What is the point of paying for services beyond cable tv packages if you can't watch any of your teams? - Tab

Mariner's game blacked out in Nevada, Playing Chicago???

The Mariner's Vs. Chicago is blacked out here on MLB.com. I live on Nevada. How is this in Mariner's territory?
Is it because I have a Pocatello, Idaho telephone and internet provider and my location may be shown at that location?
This sucks!>:( - eggink

as a person who deals in tv sports rights and licensing I have to let on that MLB operates in a zone of their own that has nothing to do with logic. Truly an incredible operation they run over there. Incompetent is a word that comes to mind despite the lineup of top brain power. It must be some kind of crony system over there as all logic and forward thinking has been left behind years ago. No wonder baseball has lost it's glory to the urban market. No wonder only 8% of ball players are African American. The rest of the country will soon follow. Prepare for the national pastime to consist of 85% foreign players. MLB stands for Mostly looking backwards. - jx

Effed up in Indiana

I'll throw my effin hat in the ring too. Not as bad as Iowa, but here in northeast Indiana, we're under the great canopy of 5 teams: Cubs, White Sox, Reds, Indians, and Tigers. MLB will only receive my ire, and none of my money. - slingerj

I grew up in Pittsburgh and moved to Columbus, OH (about 200 miles) and the Pirates are blacked out here. I don't understand if you're willing to pay the extra $200 on cable for a MLB package why they black those out too? - Arb2680

Can you include Hawaii and Alaska on your map? As stupid as it sounds, Hawaii (2,500 miles and 3 time zones away from the west coast) has blackouts, too. For the last several years the Mariners, A's, Giants, Dodgers, Angels, and Padres were ALL blacked out here. Mahalo! - Bill H.

Specially if your state doesn't even have a baseball team! That is effed up and stupid. They should at least give you a discount on mlb.tv. - Cupcakes

I live smack in the middle of Iowa (suburb of Des Moines) and cannot watch any of the aformentioned teams live on MLB.TV. How can six teams claim territory rights blanketing over an entire state? What a joke. - Joe A.

Not true - All international revenue, including broadcast revenue) goes to Major League Baseball. The Mariners do not receive monies on TV revenue, jersey sales, etc in Japan. - Diesel

Something to consider w/ the Mariners, they broadcast their games in Japan. This helps considerably w/ their tv revenue.
