MLB to Charlotte

It's time for the Braves monopoly to end in the Carolinas, the Carolinas region can stand on it's own and no longer needs to support Atlanta's baseball team. The Carolinas region is home to many Fortune 500 companies, major colleges and universities and is home to several large TV markets that are still growing and can pull in a similar audience to the NFL's Carolina Panthers. Placing a team in Charlotte with it's central location makes sense for the entire region. Add up the TV Markets for Charlotte (24), Raleigh-Durham (26), Asheville-Spartanburg (36), and Winston Salem-Greensboro (46) and it adds up to 3,812,920 TV homes, ranking ahead of # 3 Chicago's 3,501,010 TV homes. This is a region MLB can't pass up on. A team in Charlotte wouldn't need help from the big market teams due to the growing market size the Carolinas region offers. An expansion team would be preferred, however if necessary, bring your failing team (Oakland A's) to Charlotte today. - Carolina Baseball

an NL would never make it in the carolinas. the people here have been diehard braves fans since they came to atlanta... it must go down as AL in charlotte and NL in portland. - Dutch

Portland and charlotte. Both have aaa teams and are growing cities. Charlotte would be a good rival for the braves and portland to Seattle. Milwaukke could move back to AL and porland al and char nl - Jr

that explains it, it's not about the fans anymore, it's where MLB can go to make the most profit, which is why no-one will ever see a MLB franchise relocate or expand into in terms of territory for the next 50 years unless they need the cash and they only can get it with an expansion. looks like the only baseball i'll be getting locally in the carolinas is through nothing but a bunch of two-bit minor leaguers waiting for the call-up that will never come. - carolinafrank
