Business of Sports Network

The Business of Sports Network is preparing to grow, yet again.

Following the recent launch of The Biz of Football, and the wildly successful The Biz of Baseball, we will be expanding to add Basketball, and then Hockey to our family of sites.

The Biz of Basketball will be launching shortly. As with the other sites in the Business of Sports Network, breaking news and analysis, along with arena news, interviews, documents, and attendance and salary data will be the focus.

We have also set aside The Biz of Hockey, and will be launching that online resource after The Biz of Basketball.

Check back on the Business of Sports Network for details of these exciting resources coming to you for your enjoyment.

Upcoming Interview: Dick Moss - MLBPA Legend
Written by Maury Brown
Sunday, 08 July 2007 20:00

Dick Moss Interview  The Biz of Baseball will shortly be publishing an interview with the man who was Marvin Miller's right-hand man, one of the first super agents, and the man who represented Steve Howe during his arbitration hearing regarding his lifetime ban from baseball due to drug abuse.

That man is Dick Moss, the former General Counsel for the MLB Players Association at it's most turbulent time.

Moss dealt with all collective bargaining negotiations and contract administration matters. He tried all the union's grievance arbitration cases, including in 1975 the Messersmith case which ended the Reserve Clause and created free agency for the players. He was also the union's lawyer in all of it's court litigation, most notably the Curt Flood case which was ultimately decided in the U.S. Supreme Court. He is one of the innovators of baseball's salary arbitration system, and tried, as the union's General Counsel, the first several cases for players who could not afford or did not trust outside representation.

This extensive interview will be published shortly on The Biz of Baseball, so check back often.

That document is now available on The Biz of Baseball in PDF format.

The Biz of Football Officially Launches
Written by Maury Brown
Monday, 25 June 2007 01:12

The Biz of Football

Today, The Biz of Football officially launches, marking the second web resource after The Biz of Baseball to be launched by the Business of Sports Network.

Much like The Biz of Baseball, the The Biz of Football will bring you news 24/7/365 on the NFL, AFL, NCAA Football, NFL Europa, and much, much more.

Look for interviews with those that work in the business of football -- be that the front office of teams, or broadcasters -- and look for insight directly from those making the decisions in football.

We also will be adding many documents that pertain to football from a business perspective. Be that CBAs from the NFL, or court decisions that impact how football is run in its various forms, we'll be looking to capture it.

We'll also be tracking the business aspects of football media. Be that the Big Ten Network, the NFL Network, Sirius Satellite radio, the internet, or somewhere in-between, The Biz of Football will look to be a leading resource in this area.

What about new stadium designs? The Biz of Football is already working with key architects HOK Sport and HKS Inc. to get the latest computer renderings and information for stadiums that are being designed for several NFL and NCAA teams.

We'll be publishing original content, and lots of it. Maury Brown, who founded the Business of Sports Network (see his bio here), and is a contributor to the 2007 Pro Football Prospectus, will be adding in insight and editorials. We'll offer an open invitation to others -- including you -- to add more voices to the site.

We hope you enjoy The Biz of Football, will your add comments often, and most of all, bookmark us as a daily stop.

The Biz of Football is still accepting resumes for bloggers and original content. If you are interested in adding to this site, please refer to our Contacts page.
