2 9/14/11 ♦ Eliezer Alfonzo C PEDs Rockies Major League club (Rockies) 100 gms

∑ Major League Baseball notified Manny Ramirez of an issue under Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Rather than continue with the process under the Program, Ramirez informed MLB that he is retiring as an active player. If Ramirez seeks reinstatement in the future, the process under the Drug Program will be completed. MLB says at the time that it will not have any further comment on this matter. If he were to be reinstated, Ramirez would be suspended 100 games after being suspended 50 games in May of 2009 for PEDs.

♣ Second violation for stimulant

♦ Second violation. Was suspended on 4/30/2008 for being in violation of the MLB drug program. Alfonzo released a statement through the MLBPA on 9/14 saying, "I am surprised by this positive test. I learned my lesson in 2008 and have not taken any prohibited substances since then. With the Union's help, I intend to fight this suspension and look forward to appearing before the arbitrator in the near future." Under the major league drug agreement, first offenses are arbitrated before any public announcement -- but additional offenses are litigated after a suspension is announced.

∑ Suspension begins at start of 2011 season.

♣ Effective once player signs with team

♦ Taveras suspended for just 25 games, as opposed to 50, as he was found to be in possession of an unauthorized syringe. Based upon the Minor League drug policy, players may only be in possession of syringes if they have team permission.

¥ Dedrick was suspended 50 games for a second violation for drug of abuse (players are only issued a warning the first time). He would receive a 100 game suspension if it were to occur again, and a lifetime ban for a fourth violation.

∞ Second violation (had tested positive in 2010) for drug of abuse. Substance not identified by MLB
œ Frandsen does not have a Theraputic Use Exemption (TUE) for Ritalin, and therefore it is deemed to be a performance-enhancing substance.

Ξ Second violation for drug of abuse. Given credit for 25 games already served while undergoing substance abuse counseling at time of suspension

ω Second violation for drug of abuse.

£ Suspension will be effective at the start of the New York-Penn League season

Ë Effective start of 2012 season
