Look at the Brewers and Twins attendance numbers below for Sat. If you didn’t follow the standings, you’d say, “Both must be in first place, right?” Well….
For the Brewers, the club has done a fantastic sales job (not just this year, but for several, now). They sit in third behind the Reds and Cardinals, but at 19-21, the attendance numbers are fantastic. Why? Note the promotion.
For the Twins, it shows how performing well in the last two seasons, and the honeymoon effect in Target Field are paying dividends in what can only be described as an anemic start with the AL worst record (12-26, .316).
For the A’s… Well, the Athletics are just flat out bad at the gate.
The optimist says this about Saturday’s numbers: half the games played had ballparks filled to over 90% if capacity.
