Buck ShowalterThe Cleveland Indians today announced the club has named BUCK SHOWALTER Senior Advisor to Baseball Operations.

In his position Showalter will serve as a resource to the entire Baseball Operations Department of the Cleveland Indians, specifically working with Executive Vice President & General Manager MARK SHAPIRO, Assistant General Manager CHRIS ANTONETTI and Manager ERIC WEDGE and the Major League Coaching Staff.  Showalter will be in uniform in both the Major and Minor League spring training camps in February and March and during the regular season he will also be involved in evaluation and instruction in Player Development.

Showalter, 50, has compiled a Major League managerial record of 882-833 (.514) and is a two-time winner of the BBWAA American League Manager of the Year Award (1994, 2004). He managed the New York Yankees from 1992-95, leading them to the best record in AL in 1994 (70-43, .619).  He also managed the Arizona Diamondbacks (1998-2000) and most recently the Texas Rangers (2003-06).

“Buck Showalter will serve as a valuable resource to myself and the entire Baseball Operations staff,” said Cleveland Indians Executive Vice President and General Manager MARK SHAPIRO.  “Buck has a unique set of skills and experiences that will greatly enhance our organization in all facets at the Major League, Player Development and Amateur levels when it comes to decision-making, instruction and mentoring our younger staff members.”
