Four Dominican Summer League Players Suspended for PEDs PDF Print E-mail

PEDs in BaseballThe Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that four Minor League players have received 50-game suspensions after each tested positive for substances in violation of the Minor League
Drug Prevention and Treatment Program:

• Pitcher Melvin Colon of the New York Mets organization (Dominican Summer League) has been suspended after testing positive for metabolites of Nandrolone.

• Outfielder Steven Lebron of the Cleveland Indians organization (Dominican Summer League) has been suspended after testing positive for Boldenone metabolite.

• Catcher Josue Rodriguez of the New York Yankees organization (Dominican Summer League) has been suspended after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.

• Pitcher Israel Tolentino of the New York Yankees organization (Dominican Summer League) has been suspended after testing positive for Boldenone metabolite.

All four suspensions will be effective at the start of the 2010 Dominican Summer League season.

With the latest suspensions there have been a total of 8 players suspended during the 2009-10 minor league off-season for being in violation of the drug policy for a total of 400 games.
