California LeagueThe California League, the 10 team Advanced Class A Minor League, released figures today that shows it has drawn over 52 million fans since its inception in 1941. Taking a break during World War II, the League restarted again in 1946 and has been in continuous operation every year since.  All the players and coaches of the 10 teams in the League are supplied by Major League Organizations, and the League is one of the few Minor Leagues where all of its teams are “in State”.

New Cal League President, Charlie Blaney, stated: “Cal League Baseball is a great opportunity for the fans in the State to come out and see tomorrow’s Major League Stars play today, and it’s terrific that over 52 million fans throughout the years have had the opportunity to enjoy good, wholesome, family entertainment at reasonable prices in the Cal League Ballparks.”

In 2010 each team in the Cal League will play 140 games beginning Opening Day, April 8, and ending on Labor Day, September 6.  Here’s the overall attendance breakdown:
