Maybe in the future, Strat-O-Matic will yield the same sense of nostalgia that baseball-related games did in the ‘20s, '30s and ‘40s, but as functional art goes, the baseball-themed pinball machine ranks up there as the best.
Hunt Auctions is conducting a sports memorabilia and collectable cards public auction on Fri. and Sat. Feb 26 and 27 in King of Prussia, PA at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The highlighted piece is a 1978 Reggie Jackson game worn World Series jersey (look for a separate story on this shortly), but within the mix, is this collection of baseball pinball machines. Once again… it’s baseball as art (see our first installment on baseball as art, The Art of the Ballpark Seat, with another “ballpark seat” installment forthcoming).
