The Denver Post's Troy Renck reports that the Rockies have signed veteran starter Tim Redding to a minor league contract. The deal is said to be worth $1 million if the veteran righthander makes the club out of spring training. Because the deal is non-guaranteed, Colorado's risk is minimized.

Redding had an injury-marred 2009 with the injury-marred Mets. When healthy he pitched ineffectively tallying three wins against six defeats in 120 innings pitched. His ERA stood at 5.10 at seasons end. He was fairly hittable and particularly susceptible to the longball, which does not sound like a winning combination for Coors field.
