The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Dejan Kovavecic reports that Pittsburgh has finalized their agreement with Octavio Dotel who is expected to assume the closer's role for the Pirates in 2010. The deal is expected to pay Dotel $3 million for 2010. The deal includes an option for 2011.
Last year Dotel pitched for the White Sox where he set up Bobby Jenks. In 62 appearances he posted an ERA of 3.32 to accompany solid peripheral stats with only his walk rate significantly higher than his career averages. He'll replace Matt Capps who was non-tendered in December by the Pirates and later signed with the Nationals.
