ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that the San Diego Padres have reached an agreement with Jerry Hairston Jr. on a one-year $2.12 million deal, less than a week after swinging a deal to bring Scott Hairston back to San Diego.
Jerry Hairston spent 2009 split between the Reds and the World Champion Yankees. He played everywhere a-field, save for first and behind the plate, and posted a .251/.315/.394 combined line in 433 plate appearances.
The Hairstons represent the third pair of brothers to play for the Padres since 2007, and 2010 will mark the fourth straight season that San Diego is the city of Brotherly baseball. Marcus and Brian Giles both played for the Padres in 2007. Edgar and Adrian Gonzalez were Padres in both 2008 and 2009.
