Whity and Harvey

The first real news of the winter meetings was the announcement of Whitey Herzog and Doug Harvey gaining inclusion into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was a light moment at the meetings in the midst of everyone chasing trade stories.

At one moment, when both members were putting on the traditional HOF jersey and hats, Harvey, who has put on a couple of pounds since being an umpire, was slowly buttoning up the jersey.

Doug Harvey putting on HOF jersey: “[Herzog] says I might not be able to button my jersey. He’s still arguing with me.”
