All Major League umpires wear uniforms that were specially designed through a joint effort by Major League Baseball and the World Umpires Association.
The uniforms feature black windbreaker jackets with light blue trim produced by Majestic Athletic and black caps with the MLB silhouetted batter logo produced by New Era.
Other features include gray trousers and a black shirt with white trim and the MLB silhouetted batter logo behind the collar and on the front pocket. The umpire’s number is displayed on the sleeve of each shirt. In 2004, an alternate blue jersey was added to the Major League Umpire uniform program.
Suppliers for the Major League Umpire uniform program include Reebok (shoes); Hardwick Clothes (uniform pants); Majestic (uniform shirts, jackets and slickers); New Era (caps); Wilson Sports (mask, chest protector, shin guards); All-Star Sports (hockey-style mask); and Nike Vision (sunglasses). Honig’s Whistle Stop (www.honigs.com) in Michigan is the contact for the uniform fulfillment program.
