South Coast LeagueOctober 16, 2006 - CONYERS, GA – The South Coast League of Professional Baseball, the southeast’s newest independent minor league baseball circuit, has tabbed Garrett Ball as the Vice President of South Carolina Operations. He will oversee all business and operational aspects of the SCL’s current Aiken, SC franchise, as well as any future South Carolina expansion markets. The league made this announcement today - 7 months before they are set to launch the 2007 Inaugural Season of play.

Ball, 26, comes to the South Coast League after two seasons in the Carolina League as Corporate Sales Manager with the Atlanta Braves Class A affiliate, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. There, he sold corporate sponsorships and season and group tickets, while overseeing the game-day staff. Prior to his time with the Pelicans, Ball served as General Manager of the Thomasville (N.C.) HiToms of the Coastal Plain League, where he directed all aspects of the collegiate summer league organization.

"We are thrilled to name Garrett as our VP of South Carolina Operations. The communities he will be involved with will be proud to have an individual like Garrett leading their teams into the inaugural season," said South Coast League Chief Executive Officer Jamie Toole. "I know that his leadership, experience, and commitment to the community will serve him well in this new role. I cannot think of anybody better suited to oversee our South Carolina operations."

"I look forward to becoming an integral part of the communities that support SCL franchises," said Ball. "It is a tremendous honor and opportunity for me to be involved at the ground level of a new league. I am eager to partner with communities that have shown such incredible enthusiasm for establishing professional baseball as a form of affordable, family entertainment. As a whole, our teams will strive to provide a great product that the communities can be proud of and integrate our South Carolina organizations in all aspects of the areas that we serve.”

The South Coast League is a six-team based independent professional baseball league located in the Southeastern U.S. First pitch is scheduled for May of 2007.
