MLBI don't claim to be MLB Trade Rumors, but I am tracking more than a few trade stories, some of which hit me at or just before others.

I will be reporting as time allots today.

Here's the beginning of the end of the trade deadline:

The Jays and Rangers talked about a trade that involved Roy Halladay, but according to T.R. Sullivan, the sides couldn't get the particulars sorted out, and then there was this... Roy Halladay has a no-trade provision in his contract and said that he wouldn't accept a trade to Texas.

Post-4pm trade news are still coming in, with the biggest possibly being Jake Peavy to the White Sox for a host of pitchers in Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard, Dexter Carter, and Adam Russell. Peavy has a no-trade clause that would have to be waived. Odd thing? Peavy is on the DL.

(UPDATE) Rolen has accepted the trade; according to Jeff Blair of The Globe and Mail, Rolen actually requested to be traded. Jays will pick up a portion of the contract. According to Jays press release they will receive EDWIN ENCARNACION, RHP ZACHARY STEWART and RHP JOSH ROENICKE

Jon Heyman is reporting that Scott Rolen has been traded to the Reds, pending his waiving of the no-trade agreement. Other details to follow.

3:35pm ET -

Joe Beimel to the Rockies

(UPDATE 3:55pm ET) In exchange the Nationals get minor league right-handed pitchers Ryan Mattheus and Robinson Fabian.

The Rockies have landed reliever Joe Beimel from the Washington Nationals, according to Bob Nightengale.

3:28pm ET -

UPDATE: Joel Sherman via Twitter reports that while this may not confirm any VMart to Boston deal, the Rays were reportedly active in attempting to aquire him for some time but that over the last few days, dropped out.

Hearing rumblings, as have USA Today's Bob Nightengale via Twitter that the deal to send Victor Martinez to the Red Sox is on the cusp. Reported via Twitter earlier today that this was going to happen. Will update shortly as I get more news.

11:45am ET -

Seattle in Rebuilding Mode

Joel Sherman of the NY Post has said that he talked to Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik yesterday and he said the team would need "extraordinary" run to make playoffs and sounded like wanted to rebuild. The Washburn trade points the way, although the trade the trade for shortstop Jack Wilson and right-handed pitcher Ian Snell in exchange for first baseman Jeff Clement, shortstop Ronny Cedeno and right-handed pitchers Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock looks confusing in light of "rebuilding"

11:40am ET -

  • Rangers and Jays Talks Dead on Halladay?'s T.R. Sullivan reports that, "trade talks between the two clubs appear to have broken off. According to those familiar with the discussions, the situation was somewhere between dead and on life-support."
  • Red Sox Looking at Victor Martinez, Adrian Gonzalez, Possibly Halladay

Ken Rosenthal of believes that the Red Sox are going after a hitter in either Victor Martinez or Adrian Gonzalez. On the Halladay front, although talks appear to be stalled, Rosenthal doesn't rule out possibility of the Red Sox making a deal. Late last night, we had been hearing that VMart would be coming to Boston. It's the trade deadline... things change fast.
  • Do the Mariners Trade Jarrod Washburn?

Lot's of rumbling on a possible trade of Mariners pitcher Jarrod Washburn to the Yankees. Problem is, the Mariners have been vague on what they want in return. On what the Yankees are willing to send the Mariners, it's not much. According to Jon Heyman of and MLB Network via Twitter, "Yanks say no on joba, hughes, jax, romine, montero. otherwise, take your pick."
