RoyalsMark Gorris, the vice president of business operations for the Kansas City Royals resigned late Tuesday afternoon. Gorris had held the position for six years and oversaw the effort to get funding passed to renovate Kaufmann Stadium.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do next, but, sometimes, these life changes come upon you because your gut tells you. I think we’ve accomplished quite a lot of things since I arrived in 2001,” Gorris said.

As reported:

Gorris and Glass each insisted the parting was amicable. Gorris informed Glass and club president Dan Glass of his intentions Monday night.

“We’re going to fill it quickly,” [Glass] said. “There are a number of excellent businesspeople out there who are sports junkies, and working in baseball would appeal to them.”

Glass said Gorris’ responsibilities in the interim will be shared by several people, including Dan Glass and various officials in business operations.
