Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels flew back to Philadelphia Tuesday to have his left elbow looked at by the Phillies team doctor. Hamels says he feels no pain in his left elbow, but he does feel some tightness. According to MLB.com, Hamels said that he felt no pain at all while pitching or long tossing between starts. He said the only thing that bothered him was it would tighten up in between innings when he was pitching.Â
The MRI revealed good news for the Phillies. It showed no structural damage to Hamels’ elbow. According to MLB.com, it revealed inflammation in the posterior lateral aspect of his elbow joint. He received an injection to help reduce the inflammation and will not throw for 2 days. It is up in the air whether he will make his Opening Day start, but he would start shortly after if he is not able to on Opening Day. Overall the Phillies are happy with the results that they received from the exam.
