Injury ReportNew York Mets starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey found out on Friday that he had a muscle strain in his left lower leg. Pelfrey and the Mets are unsure what caused the injury. It swelled up and turned colors without them knowing why. According to MLB.com, "Pelfrey said he was unsure of the cause of the problem, as he didn't participate in morning drills. The club said he had strained the muscle while throwing in the bullpen Friday, but Pelfrey had no recollection of a misstep or an incident."

It is not certain yet when Pelfrey will continue baseball activities. MLB.com says he will begin his spring preparation again when the pain is gone. This is the second medical issue the Mets have dealt with the past week, with the first one being Johan Santana. The Mets first thought they would be without Santana for their opener, but it is looking more promising everyday that the club's Ace will get the nod on Opening Day.
