According to sources, TBS will use John Smoltz as a color analyst for MLB postseason games. According to John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal, “The plan is to have Smoltz work the booth at one of the games.”
It is not known who would be paired with Smoltz as the play-by-play announcer. In other TBS broadcast-related news... It is reported that the same team that hosted the MLB All-Star Selection show will remain as the studio team for the postseason. That team included Ernie Johnson, Cal Ripken, Jr., Harold Reynolds and Dennis Eckersley, although Frank Thomas is not expected to return.
