Manny RamirezThe acquisition of Manny Ramirez is already paying dividends for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his first game in Dodger Blue isn't even completely in the books yet (for the record, this is being filed with the Dodgers up in the bottom of the 9th down 2-1 to Randy Johnson and the Diamondbacks).

The Dodgers report late Friday that they sold the highest volume of tickets in the club’s history in a 24 hour period during the regular season. More than 30,000 tickets were sold since the acquisition of Ramirez yesterday at 1 p.m. PST.

How high is that really for the Dodgers? It is the highest surge since the onset of “Fernandomania”.

This is one of the those rare instances where one player can impact the turnstiles in a big way. Now, the question is, will he help sustain the fan interest, and more importantly, push the Dodgers to the front of the NL West? It appears that at least one part of the question has already been answered. Look for attendance at Dodger Stadium to continue to benefit from Manny leaping coasts.
