RaysThere are signs, albeit slowly and partially due to the current World Series champion being part of the equation, that fan interest in the Tampa Bay Rays is mirroring their fantastic first-half run.

Attendance is slowly inching upward, and television ratings are bearing fruit.

Some will say that this may be due to the now infamous dust-up between the Rays and Red Sox on June 5th that resulted in 8 players being suspended. No matter, the Rays have to be enjoying the ride.

Monday's Tampa Bay Rays-Boston Red Sox game on Rays-TV (televised locally on ION-Media, WXPX) recorded the highest ratings in the history of the franchise. The highlights:

  • 271,000 combined homes in Tampa (WXPX) and Orlando (WOPX) tuned in to Rays TV at 10p.m. The highest number ever.
  • Rays TV was # 1 in the Tampa market at 10p.m. Out-delivered all stations and cable
  • 12.8 represents the highest peak household TV rating in the history of the Club
  • Men 25-54 peaked at an 8.4 rtg
