As reported Tuesday , Commissioner Selig, along with major television networks, entertainment industry executives, celebrities and prominent leaders in cancer research and patient advocacy, took part in the launch of a collaborative fund raising effort entitled Stand Up To Cancer (www.standup2cancer.org).
Network evening news anchors Charles Gibson, Katie Couric and Brian Williams will announced the initiative together during live appearances on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” CBS’s “The Early Show,” and NBC’s “TODAY show.” MLB pledged $10 million towards Stand Up To Cancer Major League Baseball was the first donor to contribute to Stand Up To Cancer. “This initiative has presented an historic and unique plan to fight this deadly disease, and it is a privilege for me and Major League Baseball to join this magnificent effort,” said Commissioner Selig. “We have pledged many of our valuable resources in an attempt to assist in every way we can.” Source: Stand Up To Cancer
