As reported previously on The Biz of Baseball, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays will be changing uniform colors (moving to blur and yellow), but also will be looking to change their name. There had been talk of “Stingray” but something less dramatic seems to be the preferred route.

Word is coming into The Biz of Baseball that the new name will simply be “Rays”. This would fall in line with research by the club that the word “Devil” didn’t sit well with some in the community.

Announcement should be coming soon. Our guess? After the season ends.
