President BushThe White House hosted the 17th annual “Tee Ball on the South Lawn” event yesterday. The event was hosted by President George W. Bush in honor of Jackie Robinson 's 60th anniversary of breaking the color barrier.  The game was played by teams from the Inner-City Little League of Brooklyn, NY and the Wrigley Little League Dodgers of Los Angeles, CA, the two home cities of Robinson's team, the Dodgers.

During the game, Karl Ravech of ESPN interviewed Bush and asked several questions about the state of the game today, and what he might consider altering if he were commissioner of MLB. The following are answers from Bush regarding what he would do to address the game if he were in a position of power to do so:

Bush: They need to start the All-Star Game earlier. There is a bunch of young Americans who miss it and a bunch of older guys, like me, who can barely stay awake past 9:30pm.

Ravech: How about World Series games?

Bush: Same.

Ravech: Are you getting back in baseball when this is all said and done?

Bush: You know, I'll never leave baseball as a fan. I doubt it. I really do.

Ravech: Commissioner?

Bush: No, I don't think so.

Ravech: Play the role of analyst on "Baseball Tonight." Who is in the World Series?

Bush: I think Detroit will be in the World Series. I think they'll nose out Boston. ... They've got the flame-thrower Zumala back.

Ravech: Zumaya.

Bush: Zumaya -- Zumala, Zumaya. I think they'll be pretty tough.
